Mixed Media Photo Paper Background
I needed a graduation card and went looking for that awesome piece of background paper created on old HP glossy photo paper and for the life of me couldn’t find it. No problem, yesterday morning before getting ready for work, I grabbed another glossy paper, a couple of paint colors and my brayer and created another one. After work, I added the shimmer using some starburst stains. Then swiped a very light layer of gesso over it and spritzing it with more shimmer. Layered it onto card stock, stamped a sentiment and I have to say, this card may have been my best time yet as far as time spend creating it.
I stamped the inside with sentiments from Clear & Simple Stamps retired graduation set:
Sorry for the lousy pictures, two of my bulbs burned out and wouldn’t you know it, no replacements in the house. I did remember to snap a picture of the background before adding the sentiment panel:
You can see the shimmer a little better in the photo below:
I think you’re going to see a lot more of these mixed media backgrounds on old glossy photo papers. I love how they accept the different mediums differently, especially when blasting them with your heat gun.
Well, that’s it for me tonight. It’s already been a long week, or is it just me? Oh and it just dawned on me that this coming Monday is Memorial Day, totally unprepared. But am so looking forward to a three day weekend.
Thanks for stopping by and go find that value pack of photo paper – I know you have some – and have fun playing with your paints.
