Altered Playing Cards

2014 February 6

Well folks, got myself shoveled out and finished up my project.  Had all the good intentions of having a post up yesterday (at least by last night) but apparently that three hour snow shoveling didn’t agree with me.  By the time I got home from work, I could barely keep my eyes open.  So here I am …. late as usual.   It’s a new Get Altered with eclectic Paperie challenge

Broni is our hostess and challenged the eTeam to play with Altered Playing Cards.   I was really excited because I took Stephanie Ackerman’s  52 Card Pickup online class and had a deck of playing cards all ready.

These were created rather quickly using Tissue Wrap, some of my vintage Mason papers adhered with Matte Glue n Seal.  Added Distress Stain, stamps and old embellishments (current supplies listed below).  The red hearts were cut out of old dictionary book pages and sprayed with Dylusions Postbox Red.

I am loving the old Masonic Lodge receipt I got last summer.  Tried really hard not to cover the dates.

Make sure to hop over to the eP blog to check out Broni’s tutorial.  LOVE how she altered her playing cards.  Sure hope you play along with us…. can’t wait to see how you alter some Playing Cards!

That’s it for me tonight, it’s bitterly cold and I really think that’s been sapping all my energy. Until next time….. stay warm!

And here I was whining because it took me 2 hours to clean out from the latest round of winter mayhem.   These cards are REALLY neat-o! I look at the Masonic receipts you so sweetly shared with me and I decide the person I'm making something for isn't worth it!  One of these days I'll use one…maybe :).  At least tomorrow is Friday, so hope there's some extra rest time for you.  Stay warm and well!  Spring's on its way — in about 41 days or so.

These are beautiful, Micki!  I love that we both used our "hearts"!!  Neat idea to punch holes and store them on a ring!  If mine weren't going to the g-kids, I'd do the same thing!

Between you and Broni I am too intimidated to make anything with cards!  These are just FANTASTIC!  Each card has a little something special on it!  LOVE what you created!  Maybe tomorrow I will get up my courage to create!

I love your cards too!! (Just came from Broni's!).  Okay. I need to find myself a deck of cards and start altering.  Actually, I just came up with an idea for a friend. How cool would it be to give her 52 cards that she can send to her daughter throughtout next year?  One a week!! (geesh…I had better get going.  We all know creativity creeps out of me instead of flows! :/ )

These don't look quick at all! Love the hearts and the slight bleed over of the color.
