SOC Trick or Treat

Hi Folks,

It’s almost time for Halloween!  Can you believe it?  Thanksgiving is only a month away and I’m not even going to mention how many days until Christmas!

Trying to recuperate this week, I did decide to play along to the new challenge in The Sisterhood of Crafters.

Lisa B is our hostess and the challenge is TRICK or TREAT – make a Halloween inspired project.   With all the wood pieces we have in the garage, I had my husband cut me several 1 ½” by 1 ½” blocks because I wanted to create some Halloween decorated photo blocks.  I had made some several years ago and still had the Halloween papers which had blocks of seasonal words.  I couldn’t even tell you who the papers were from, that’s how old they are.

Yeah, my wire bending ability isn’t the best but it will do.  I used craft wire which I glued into a small drilled hole on top of the block.  These came along really quick.  Painted the blocks with  black gesso yesterday morning before work,  took the papers with me and punched/cut them out during lunch. And also snipped the wire to length and curled one end.   Before heading to bed, I added the paper squares and gave it a nice coat of glossy Glue n Seal. Got up this morning and glued the wires into the drilled holes using Beacon’s 3 in 1 Craft glue.  I still need to add ribbon to some, but they work pretty good to hold spooky messages or photos even is the wire is all wonky!

I still have Halloween papers left, sigh!  Guess I might have the girls help me make up some more!  Since I also have some old Christmas papers, I might have to try to create some of these with the Christmas theme!  But I don’t want to think Christmas yet – let’s enjoy fall first.  Head over to The Sisterhood of Crafters to check out what the rest of the gang came up with – lots of great inspiration and then join us and play along!  Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

I’m off to work, tonight I have to clean my craft room.  Just have to…… it’s an unspeakable mess Smile.

Until next time……..

Micki these are absolutely adorable!  They would make cute photo holders of the kiddos in Halloween costumes of years past.
