Up Up and Away and it’s Official…..

2013 August 12

I am out of twist ties!  There is no twist tie to be found and after three ocean wave projects, that’s fine by me!  To say I’m a little burned out on creating waves, especially with twist ties, is about right.  But the excitement from Gracy, then Abby when they got their mixed media framed art  spurred me on to make the final one for Miss Emma.  And just in time because today Emma turns 9 10 years old.   Happy Birthday Sweetie!!!!  (I guess I can't bear for her to grow up, because I keep thinking she's turning 9 years old).

I will not go into too much detail because essentially I created each one the same way.  Glue down twist ties, apply a good coat of gesso, color the waves using sprays, paints, glitter, etc.  Then paper piece the boats, in this case, air balloons, glue down.  Print photo onto regular paper, trim, glue down,……. you get the picture.  So without further ado…..

I don’t think it came out as good as Gracy and Abby’s, but I couldn’t find any pictures of the girls that would work.  Gracy and Abby are a little too light and I should have darkened the picture before printing, but you know how that goes.  Didn’t realize that until I had glued it down.

I used some old rub-ons and also doodled a bit.  The texture is awesome though!  And it’s just from the twist ties and layers upon layers of paints, sprays, gelatos, glimmer glaze.  Yummy!

Trying to show the glimmer….  I decided to add some pleated ribbon to Emma’s balloon.  The metal art studs are from K&Co which I got in the clearance bin at Michaels some time ago.

The sun is a doily, painted yellow, then stenciled over with Smooch Spritz.

All in all, I hope Emma will like it.

I thought it would be fun to show you all three together.

Abby’s

Each is different, yet created the same way. Hmmm, I have to say, I think I like the waves on Emma’s piece the best.   On Gracy’s piece, I love the boat and how lucky I was to have a picture of Gracy jumping with her arms outstretched in the pool.  I just love that pose and it works so well on the boat.  Abby’s piece was the hardest.  Trying to find pictures with a pose that would work was hard.  Well, it’s only fitting that each is different because each of the girls is unique.

That does it for me.  We’ll be delivering the framed art tonight.  I’ll let you know how she liked it.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
